A Taunton man was arrested and charged with attempted murder in Raynham Friday, after he stabbed his supervisor in the neck with a box cutter, Raynham police said.
Police received multiple 911 calls of a workplace violence incident and a man with a weapon at Dotcom Computers Inc., at 220 Paramount Drive in Raynham, around 11 a.m. Friday.
Raynham police, Raynham fire, and Taunton police responded to the calls.
On their way to the scene, police learned that the man, a Dotcom Computer employee later identified as Jean Attis, 37, of Taunton, had stabbed someone there.
Upon arriving, police found that Attis had stabbed his supervisor in the neck with a box cutter following an argument. Attis was then placed under arrest.
No other injuries were reported.
The stabbing victim, a 51-year-old Taunton man, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries, police said.
“I want to commend Dotcom employees for their actions today,” Raynham police Chief James Donovan said in a statement.
“Despite the dangerous situation, they intervened immediately to prevent further harm to the victim,” he said. “Working with the Raynham Fire Department and the Taunton Police Department, we were able to prevent a tragedy from occurring.”
Attis was charged with attempted murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (box cutter), and was taken to Taunton District Court for arraignment.Ben Thompson can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Follow him on Twitter @Globe_Thompson
